Joshua Bolma tallied his first goal of the season last Wednesday in Revolution II’s 2-1 loss to Crown Legacy FC. With each team playing down a man due
to red card ejections, the Matchweek 9 contest remained scoreless until Crown Legacy broke through in the 73rd and 78th minutes to take a two-goal
lead. Bolma brought Revolution II back into the match, finding the back of the net in the 88th minute off an assist from Revolution Academy midfielder/
defender Eric Klein, who found the scoresheet for the first time in his professional career on the goal. Goalkeeper JD Gunn made four saves in his fourth
consecutive start.
Fresh off tallying his team-leading 18th career goal with Revolution II on May 4, Marcos Dias collected another milestone last Wednesday, surpassing
4,000 minutes played with New England since joining the club in 2022. The Brazilian forward ranks fourth in minutes played, first in goals scored, second
in assists, and first in shots on goal in the team’s all-time record book. Dias is tied for the league lead in assists (5) and ranks tied for second in goal contributions (8) this season.
Sunday marks the second of three meetings between New England and Philadelphia’s second teams this season. The two sides last met on March 24
at Subaru Park, with Philadelphia earning a 2-1 win. New England owns a 5-3-0 record against Union II, dating back to the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season.
Revolution II opened the 2024 home slate with a 3-0-0 record and are undefeated in 15 of their last 16 home matches. Philadelphia is coming off a bye
week following its 2-0 win against Huntsville FC on May 5.
This weekend’s match will also see the return of several Academy products following the MLS NEXT Flex competition in Boyds, Maryland. Revolution
Academy players Klein, Alex Parvu and Steban Lopera alongside Revolution II’s Max Weinstein and Olger Escobar helped secure the U-19’s opportunity to
bring home a third consecutive national championship this June, winning all three games over the weekend with two clean sheet performances. Weinstein
started each match while Escobar tallied two goals and one assist in the playoff qualification competition.
