For the third time this season, Matt Turner has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for his heroics in net. The Revolution goalkeeper earned his place among the week’s best XI with a six-save shutout that helped New England secure an important 1-0 victory over Chicago Fire FC on Saturday night.

After midfielder Matt Polster opened the scoring in the 26th minute, the Revs faced a clear but demanding task: extend the lead or keep Chicago off the scoresheet. The Fire outshot New England 19-5, so keeping them at bay was easier said than done – especially when thwarting off a Chicago attack with players like Robert Lewandowski, Maren Haile-Selassie, and Philip Zinckernagel. But, New England has Matt Turner.

The shutout was the product of a complete team effort, with the Revolution back line repeatedly pulling through, and Josh Wynder earning his second consecutive selection to the Team of the Matchday bench. Empowered by a season-high crowd of over 34,000 at Gillette Stadium, Turner recorded his sixth clean sheet of the season and raised his save total to a career-high 120.

“Guys were putting their bodies on the line tonight, which I love to see. When they block shots, they make the game a lot more simple for me and I give a lot of credit to them for dealing with a really good striker [Robert Lewandowski]. Ethan [Kohler] and Josh in the middle especially, Tanner [Beason] when he came on as well,” Turner said following the match. “To get a clean sheet for the first time in, I think it was like 10 matches, that was huge for us. It’s a good boost, especially coming down the stretch.”

With Turner in net, the Revs own the second-best defensive record in the East, allowing just 41 goals in 30 matches. With just four games remaining in the regular season, that defensive resolve will be more important than ever as New England look to secure a top spot heading into the Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs.

The Revolution return to the road on Saturday night to take on the Philadelphia Union. If Turner and the gang continue their current form, it’s sure to be an exciting show at Subaru Park. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
