FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Major League Soccer has announced its lineup of home openers for the 2022 Major League Soccer season. The Revolution will open their Supporters’ Shield defense with an away match at the Portland Timbers on Saturday, February 26 (7:30 p.m. ET). New England will then open the home slate at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, March 5 vs. FC Dallas (1:30 p.m. ET).

The 2022 MLS season will kick off in late February with the league’s earliest start ever and runs through Decision Day on Oct. 9, designed to align with the 2022 international soccer calendar, which will see the FIFA Men’s World Cup begin in Qatar on Nov. 21. The 34-game season will see all 28 MLS clubs play 17 home games and 17 away games. Every team will face each conference opponent twice and play eight non-conference opponents once each. All clubs will play five or fewer midweek matches. 2022 MLS Cup is set for Saturday, Nov. 5.

In addition to the MLS regular season, New England will also be competing in the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, marking the club’s return to international competition for the first time since 2010. The Revolution will begin Champions League play in the Round of 16 between Feb. 15-17 against an opponent to be determined. The official draw is scheduled for December 15. Visit Concacaf.com for complete details.

New England will open the campaign with an away match for the 14th consecutive year and for the 26th time in 27 seasons. The Revolution will begin the season with consecutive matches against Western Conference opponents, matching the total number of interconference games played in 2021. New England has played the Portland Timbers to a draw in each of the last four meetings. Against FC Dallas, the Revs hold a 23-18-4 advantage in the regular season, with a 12-8-1 mark at home.

The Revolution own a 14-6-5 all-time record in home openers in Foxborough. In 2021, the club tied its best ever home season with a 12-2-3 mark at Gillette Stadium en route to an MLS-record 73 points. New England will put that home record to the test in the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs, where the top-seeded Revs own homefield advantage beginning with an Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup against New York City FC on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Gillette Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET – FS1, FOX Deportes, ROCK 92.9 FM), 1260 AM Nossa Radio).
