Revolution announce 2015 preseason plans

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution will open the club’s 2015 preseason on Thursday, January 22 when the team convenes for the first time in the new season. Coming just more than six weeks after the completion of the 2014 MLS season, the 2015 preseason will see the Revolution make two trips to Arizona in addition to training in Foxborough ahead of their MLS regular-season opener against Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday, March 8 at 9:30 p.m. on FOX Sports 1.


The first four days of preseason will be spent at Gillette Stadium with the players conducting entrance physicals and fitness assessments. The team will then travel to Casa Grande, Arizona on Monday, January 26 to begin 12 days of training. While there, the club has training matches against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, January 31 at Grande Sports Complex in Casa Grande and Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Wednesday, February 4 at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona, before returning to New England on Friday, February 6.


The club will train in Foxborough for the next week before returning to Arizona on Saturday, February 15 for the start of the 2015 Desert Diamond Cup. This is the fourth consecutive season in which the Revolution will play in the competition, which also features the Colorado Rapids, Real Salt Lake, Seattle Sounders FC, Sporting Kansas City of MLS and PDL side FC Tucson, the tournament host. All six sides will play four games at the tournament, with the Revolution facing Colorado, Real Salt Lake and Seattle in addition to a yet to be determined team on the final day of the competition. New England’s complete schedule for the Desert Diamond Cup is:


  • Wednesday, February 18 vs. Real Salt Lake -  8 p.m.at  Kino North Grand Stand
  • Saturday, February 21 vs. Colorado Rapids - 7:30 p.m. at Kino North Stadium
  • Wednesday, February 25 vs.Seattle Sounders FC - 8 p.m. at Kino North Grand Stand
  • Saturday, February 28 - Desert Diamond Cup Finals - Opponent, time and venue TBD

After returning to Boston on Sunday, March 1, the club will complete their preparations ahead of their MLS regular-season opener against Seattle Sounders FC, which will be played on Sunday, March 8 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. That game will be broadcast nationally on FOX Sports 1.


Major League Soccer today unveiled the complete schedule for the 2015 regular season. The 20th season of MLS will open on March 6 and end on October 25 with each of the league’s 20 clubs playing 34 games. The Revolution will play a total of 24 games against their nine fellow Eastern Conference foes while they will face each of the 10 clubs in the Western Conference once. VIEW SCHEDULE
