FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Revolution Academy goalkeeper Ryan Carney (2006 – Dunstable, Mass.) has been called up to the United States Under-17 Men's Youth National Team for its upcoming friendly matches in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Carney first joined the Revolution Academy in 2019, playing for the U-14 side in his first season before moving up to the U-15s in 2020. The goalkeeper was a pillar on the U-15’s run to the MLS NEXT Cup Semifinals, where Carney started all four matches. During the 2021 MLS NEXT fall season, Carney made 11 starts for the U-17s and has recorded one clean sheet. Furthering his development, the netminder has spent the MLS NEXT offseason training with New England Revolution II, the club’s MLS NEXT Pro side. Carney previously attended the United States Under-17 National Team Domestic Training Camp in Chula Vista, Calif. last November.

The U.S. Under-17 Men’s Youth National Team will face Argentina on March 15 and Uruguay on March 18 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for its first international matches of the 2022-23 cycle. U-17 MYNT head coach Gonzalo Segares has called up 20 players for the matches, the first for this age group since February 2020.

The Revolution Academy returns to action this March as all four of the club’s youth teams kick off the MLS NEXT Spring season. More information on all four Revolution Academy teams and programs can be found at revolutionsoccer.net.
