RECENT FORM VS. NEW YORK CITY FC
Saturday afternoon's contest will be the first regular season meeting between the Revs and NYCFC this season, but these sides did meet in the U.S. Open Cup in late May, with NYCFC taking home a 1-0 win in extra time. That was the first meeting since last year's MLS Cup Playoffs showdown, won by NYCFC in a penalty shootout en route to an MLS Cup title. The Revs did, however, hold the upper hand in the regular season last year, winning two of the three meetings, and they're a respectable 3-4-2 all-time at Yankee Stadium.
The defending MLS Cup champs have had a rollercoaster start to the 2022 campaign, currently on a bit of a downswing as they're winless in four (0-1-3) since head coach Ronny Deila left to join Standard Liege in Belgium and assistant Nick Cushing took over as interim head coach. Still NYCFC remain near the top of the Eastern Conference standings, entering the week in fourth place and just three points back of the first-place New York Red Bulls with two games in hand.
The Revs will bring with them to the Bronx the longest unbeaten run in MLS this season, although they've at times been left frustrated by blown leads during that 10-game stretch (4-0-6). Of those six draws, five have seen the Revs squander leads, including twice in this past weekend's 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati. But like NYCFC, the Revs find themselves very much in the mix in the crowded Eastern Conference, in seventh place but just four points back of Saturday's opponent.
Now into the second half of the regular season schedule, this weekend's game sets up as a classic six-pointer between two sides looking to make moves in the East.

SHOW YOUR COLORS
The Revs will be sporting their new primary kit, “The Liberty.” The bespoke pattern is inspired by Boston’s Freedom Trail, a walking trail through the heart of Boston which passes 16 historical sites from the American Revolution – which gives a nod to the club name. This sleek new look will be paired with blue shorts, conveying a defiant, bold and strong look.
The club is reverting to blue shorts for the first time since 2013 to complement “The Liberty”. This is to convey a bold and strong one-color look, in-keeping with the New England’s defiant spirit while also enabling the new logo the chance to shine in its first time on a kit.
