Christmas morning won't arrive until Sunday but fans of Major League Soccer received an early gift on Tuesday afternoon with the release of the full 2023 schedule.
For the New England Revolution the slate once again consists of 34 games - 17 home, 17 away - and we've highlighted five of the most anticipated matches of the upcoming season.
March 4 vs. Houston Dynamo
We're a little more than two months away from the Revolution's 2023 season opener, which will be on the road for the 27th time in the club's 28-year history as they'll visit Charlotte FC on February 25. The following weekend they'll kick off their home slate against the Houston Dynamo, hosting their Western Conference foe in Foxborough for the first time since 2019. We can't wait to see you all at Gillette Stadium!
March 12 at Los Angeles FC
New England's only west coast trip of the 2023 regular season will come early as they'll visit the defending Supporters' Shield and MLS Cup champions, Los Angeles FC, on March 12. This will be just the Revolution's second-ever visit to Banc of California Stadium for a regular-season game (they've played several preseason matches at the venue), and their first meeting with LAFC in any official competition since August 2019.
August 20 at Nashville SC
After a one-year stint in the Western Conference, Nashville SC hops back over to the East for the 2023 season, meaning a pair of meetings with the Revolution. These sides haven't squared off since August of 2021 but they'll renew acquaintances early in the season on March 18 at Gillette Stadium, before the Revolution's first-ever visit to GEODIS Park on August 20.
September 2 vs. Austin FC
This will be Austin FC's third season in MLS but they've yet to do battle with the Revolution, and that will finally change on September 2 when last year's Western Conference finalists visit Gillette Stadium. It will also serve as a homecoming for Diego Fagundez, who has 13 goals and 20 assists in two seasons with Austin FC after spending the first 10 years of his professional career with his hometown Revs, who made him the first Homegrown Player in club history as a 15-year-old in 2010.
October 21 vs. Philadelphia Union
The defending Eastern Conference champions won't visit Foxborough until the final day of the regular season, when the Revs will host the Union at Gillette Stadium, finishing off a stretch in which New England will play three of their final four games at home. Will it be a pivotal match in the Eastern Conference race? We'll find out over the course of the previous 33 games from February to October.
