Academy Update | U17s, U15s, and U14s travel for doubleheaders in NY/NJ

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Three New England Revolution Academy teams continued their fall campaigns over the weekend with double headers in New York and New Jersey. The Under-17s, Under-15s, and Under-14s visited New York Soccer Club in Purchase, N.Y. on Saturday, before facing off with Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen in Ridgefield Park, N.J. on Sunday.


All four academy teams will conclude the fall season on the weekend of Nov. 23, when the U-19s visit Players Development Academy in Somerset, N.J., the U-17s, and U-15s visit New York City FC at St. John's University in Queens, N.Y., and the U-14s host World Class FC in Lancaster, Mass.


The latest Revolution Academy product to graduate to New England’s first team, 16-year-old Damian Rivera, also returns to action this week with the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team. The Cranston, R.I. native is in the midst of his first international camp after becoming the club’s seventh Homegrown Player signing on Nov. 8, 2019. The U.S. U-17 MNT will play three games during the 2019 Nike International Friendlies in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., all streamed on ussoccer.com and U.S. Soccer’s social media accounts: Nov. 14 vs. Turkey (6:30 p.m. ET), Nov. 16 vs. the U-16 Boys’ National Team (6:30 p.m. ET), and Nov. 18 vs. the Netherlands (6:30 p.m. ET).

  • Goalkeeper Nickolas Cardona (Boston, Mass. — 2003) registered two saves as he anchored the U-17s to a shutout in its 0-0 draw against Cedar Stars Academy.
  • Defender Cole Dewhurst (Lancaster, Mass. — 2003) and midfielder Rainer Chair (Acton, Mass. — 2004) opening their 2019 accounts with goals in the U-17s' 3-3 draw against New York Soccer Club. Forward Isaie Louis (Everett, Mass. — 2005) also found the back of the net with the U-17s for the second time this season in the draw.
  • Forward Benaiah Hanson (Loudon, N.H. — 2006) scoring his fifth goal across all age groups this season in the U-15s' match against Cedar Stars Academy.
  • Forward Jaime Vega Espinosa (Cambridge, Mass. — 2007) recording his fourth goal of the season for the U-14s – tied for second most on the team – in the 2-1 win against New York Soccer Club.
