Academy Update: Pair of shutouts highlight combined 4-1-1 record on the weekend

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All four New England Revolution Academy teams were back in action this past weekend. The Under-18s, Under-16s, Under-14s, and Under-13s hosted Beachside SC on Saturday, May 13 at Medway High School in Medway, Mass. The U-16s and U-14s played additional matches on Sunday against New York City FC at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. on Sunday, May 14.


All four teams will be return to the pitch this weekend for a total of six games. Each of the four Revolution Academy sides will host FC Boston Bolts this weekend. The U-14s and U-13s will play their matches on Saturday, May 20, while the U-18s and U-16s are set to square off on Sunday, May 21. The U-14s and U-13s will also take on the New York Cosmos on Sunday, May 21.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Forward Michael Tsicoulias '02 (Newton, Mass.) recorded three goals over the weekend, including two at the Under-16 level while playing up an age group in the U-16s' 2-0 win over Beachside SC.
  • Defender Calvin Aroh '99 (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored his third goal of the season in the Under-18s' 2-2 draw with Beachside SC. Kevin Vang '00 (Cranston, R.I.) posted the assist on Aroh's goal and also scored the game-winning goal for the Under-16s in their 1-0 win over New York City FC.
  • Goalkeeper Pat Quinn '00 (Manchester, N.H.) made five saves en route to his first shutout of the season in the U-16s 1-0 victory over New York City FC. Goalkeeper Eliot Jones'03 (New Britain, Conn.) also recorded a shutout, making eight saves while playing up an age group in the U-14s' 3-0 win over New York City FC.
  • Forward Andrew Serafino '03 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) notched two goals and an assist during the weekend while playing with the U-14s.
  • Forward Felipe Vieira '03 (Malden, Mass.) was involved in all three goals scored by the U-13s in their 3-0 victory over Beachside SC. Vieira scored once and added two assists in the win.
