Academy Update: Jones and Rennicks help U.S. U18s to Slovakia Cup Final

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution Academy players Daniel Jones and Justin Rennicks spent the past week with the U.S. U-18 Men's National Team for the 2017 Slovakia Cup in Trnava, Slovakia. The U.S. U-18s fell to Russia, 3-1, in the final on Friday, April 28.


The Revolution Academy's Under-14 and Under-13 teams were in action this past weekend in matches at World Class FC in Orangeburg, N.Y. Both sides lost their matches in Orangeburg, but will return to action later this week as they travel to Epping, N.H. to take on Seacoast United. The U-18s and U-16s resume USSDA play with matches scheduled against Continental FC DELCO in Conshohocken, Pa. All four matches will take place on Saturday, May 6.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Defender Daniel Jones '99 (West Hartford, Conn.) made three appearances, all starts, for the U.S. U-18s at the 2017 Slovakia Cup. Jones featured in group stage matches against Hungary (April 24) and Slovakia (April 27), as well as in the final against Russia (April 28).
  • Forward Justin Rennicks '99 (South Hamilton, Mass.) made three appearances, including two starts, for the U.S. U-18s at the 2017 Slovakia Cup. Rennicks played in group stage matches against Hungary (April 24) and Belarus (April 25), and in the final against Russia (April 28).
  • Goalkeeper Eliot Jones'03 (New Britain, Conn.) did not allow a goal in 35 minutes of action in the U-13s' 1-0 loss to World Class FC. Jones has allowed just three goals in 527 minutes this season, good for a 0.40 goals against average.
