While the New England Revolution’s season opener at the Portland Timbers on February 26 is quickly approaching, there is a full 34-game slate to look forward to in 2022. The Revs' schedule is very balanced with an even distribution of home and away games throughout the campaign. New England will play 26 games against Eastern Conference opponents, and eight matches against teams in the Western Conference, all while battling for an opportunity to compete in the postseason and win an MLS Cup title.

Here are six of the most anticipated matches in the 2022 campaign:

AWAY GAMES

Saturday, February 26 – Portland Timbers – Providence Park

New England will travel across the country to kick off their 2022 campaign against the Portland Timbers at Providence Park, which was the home to the 2021 MLS Cup Final. New England will be eager to start their season out on the right foot away from home in their first match of the year.

Additionally, this will be the earliest season opener in the Revolution’s 27-year history, but the Revs will be warmed up as they will have played two games in mid-February in the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Round of 16.

Saturday, March 19 – Charlotte FC – Bank of America Stadium

It’s a new beginning for Charlotte FC, becoming the 28th club in MLS as the league’s newest expansion team. New England and Charlotte will square off for their first-ever meeting only four games into the season at Bank of America Stadium, as New England aims to send a message on their turf who is the reigning No. 1 seed in the East.

Saturday, July 9 – New York City FC – Yankee Stadium

After a heartbreaking home loss to New York City in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinals to knock the Supporters' Shield winners out of the postseason, this will be the first rematch between the two teams as the Revs play at the defending MLS Cup champs. New England is eager to set a new tone in 2022 taking down NYCFC as they visit Yankee Stadium.

An interesting wrinkle in the schedule is this match at NYCFC kicks off the only stretch of three consecutive road games this season. Within the 15-day span, New England will play first at NYCFC, then the Philadelphia Union and Columbus Crew.

HOME GAMES

Saturday, March 5 – FC Dallas – Gillette Stadium

Ninety-five days after New England hosted a playoff game at Gillette Stadium, Revolution fans will reunite in Foxborough for the Revs' home opener against FC Dallas the first weekend in March. This will be the Revs' earliest opener at Gillette Stadium in the club’s history, with the previous earliest first home game taking place on March 7, 2020.

Saturday, April 16 – Charlotte FC – Gillette Stadium

Only four weeks after their first-ever meeting, Charlotte FC will visit Gillette Stadium for their initial showdown in Foxborough. As a new expansion side, the Revs hope to welcome Charlotte to New England by handing the MLS newcomers a loss.

Sunday, August 28 – LA Galaxy – Gillette Stadium

In late August the Revs will kick off against the LA Galaxy for the first time in more than three years. New England last played the West coast MLS original team in June of 2019, and they haven't hosted the Galaxy since July of 2018. This match will mark the start of a busy stretch at Gillette Stadium, as the Revs will play three straight games in Foxborough in just one week. Following the LA Galaxy’s visit, New England will then host Chicago Fire FC and the defending MLS Cup champs, New York City FC.
