FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Foxborough Faithful showed up big on Saturday night and so did the Revs. In front of over 34,000 fans at Gillette Stadium, the New England Revolution defeated Chicago Fire FC, 1-0, to secure their 10th home win of the season.

After clinching a spot in the Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs with a midweek win at FC Cincinnati, the Revs showed no signs of complacency as they look to continue earning points to close out the season.

“It’s always enjoyable to be in the playoffs, but I don’t say it lightly, I think that’s the bare minimum for me and for the club. The expectation is always to get into the playoffs and then see what we can do from there, but we really want to finish as high as we can, and win as many games as we can along the way,” said midfielder Matt Polster.

Polster delivered the game winner in the 26th minute, placing a pinpoint shot to the bottom corner after Carles Gil’s magical footwork created the opportunity on Harry Potter™ Night. The victory kept New England at third in the Eastern Conference, atop fourth-place Chicago.

With a lot of game left to play after finding the net, it was a full team effort from New England to stay on top. At the end of a three-game week, the Revolution dug deep to secure the clean sheet, warding off 19 shots from the Fire. While defenders put their bodies on the line, Matt Turner earned his sixth shutout of the season in a six-save night.

“One of the strengths of our group is just that resilience and that commitment. The game doesn’t always go perfectly, it can go in a lot of different directions, but one of the things we consistently see is the commitment to recover and defend for the team, and to deal with adversity,” said assistant coach Michael Morris, who led the group while Marko Mitrović faced a one-game suspension due to yellow card accumulation. “I’m so proud to work with these guys and it’s just a pleasure. I don’t know where they find the energy at times, but they just keep going.”

The three-point result marked the second straight victory over the Fire this season after the Revs took home a 2-1 win at Soldier Field just over four weeks ago. With four regular season games remaining – two at home – every result matters as New England looks to strengthen their playoff position. Although the Revs have already secured their postseason spot, they refuse to take their foot off the gas.

The Revs have one week before they hit the road again, travelling to Pennsylvania to face the Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park next Saturday night, where they’ll look to claim another three points.
