FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (8-7-4, 29 pts.) defeated Chicago Fire II (4-10-5, 19 pts.), 1-0, on Sunday night at Gillette Stadium. Academy goalkeeper Max Weinstein earned his first professional clean sheet in his third appearance, making two saves, as Pierre Cayet notched his second goal of the season for the game-winner.

Yeah, I mean, it feels good," Weinstein said postgame. "It feels like all the hard work I’m putting in is starting to pay off, and I think there’s much more to come.”

Weinstein was tested early, seeing his first shot against in the third minute. He went on to face a penalty kick in the 12th minute. The 18-year-old made the stop on the left-footed shot in the bottom left corner as the game remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes.

Chicago conceded a corner kick in the 52nd minute, allowing Jake Rozhansky to sail the ball in towards the net as Cayet scored his second of the season off a header from the center of the box to the bottom right corner. New England led the match with 12 total shots as Esmir Bajraktarevic, Ryan Lima, Ryan Spaulding, and Michel all recorded two shots each.

“I think it’s important for the psyche of the guys to have that feeling again," head coach Clint Peay stated of tonight's performance. "I thought the group worked incredibly hard, limited a very talented attacking [Chicago Fire II] team to very little quality chances, and I thought exploited them on the break quite a few times. It was unfortunate maybe not to get goals two or three.”

Revolution II returns to action on Sunday, August 21 when they head to Subaru Park to take on Philadelphia Union II. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on MLSNEXTPro.com.
