MIAMI, Fla. (August 19, 2026) – New England Revolution II (11-6-6, 42 pts.) fell to Inter Miami CF II (2-16-4, 11 pts.), 4-2, on Wednesday night on the road at Nu Stadium. The hosts sprinted out to an early lead in the opening half, netting three goals before the halftime whistle. New England mounted a comeback effort with goals from forward/winger Myles Morgan and forward Matthew Jean Baptiste, but Miami netted a fourth tally to seal the win.
Miami opened the match on the front foot, finding the back of the net in the 12th, 25th, and 32nd minutes, with Diego Rey scoring twice and adding an assist for the home side. Revolution II struck just before halftime to cut into the deficit. Academy defender Aarin Prajapati found Cristiano Oliveira on the right flank, where the Homegrown midfielder beat his defender and clipped a cross into the box. Morgan rose above his marker to meet the service, heading home his 12th goal of the season. The strike extended Morgan's scoring streak to four consecutive matches, while Oliveira and Prajapati have now notched assists in back-to-back games.
New England pushed to cut the deficit to one goal, creating a pair of dangerous chances midway through the second half. In the 62nd minute via corner kick, Oliveira delivered a lofted cross the box that Morgan met with a header on target, but a Miami defender cleared the effort off the goal line. Three minutes later, Oliveira picked out midfielder Javaun Mussenden open just outside of the 18-yard-box. The Academy graduate took a touch and unleashed a shot on frame, only to see the strike carom off the post.
Jean Baptiste brought New England within striking distance in the 71st minute, tallying his fifth goal of the season. After Mussenden won possession in midfield with a sliding challenge to spark a transition opportunity, the 16-year-old drove toward goal and rifled a shot inside the near post, beating Miami goalkeeper Matias Marin. However, the Herons responded just one minute later to restore their two-goal advantage, at 4-2, closing the scoring.
Tonight's contest featured the professional debuts of Academy products goalkeeper Zach LaPierre and forward/winger Benjamin Quirino. LaPierre became the youngest goalkeeper in Revolution II history to appear in a match, while Quirino, a Boston native, entered as a second half substitute and recorded one shot. Defender Schneider Mimy also featured in tonight's match, making his first appearance since May 17 after returning from injury.
Revolution II continue their two-game road swing this weekend, visiting New York City FC on Saturday evening at Icahn Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. ET and will stream on MLSNEXTPro.com and the OneFootball platform.
