Blair Gavin is in his third season as an Assistant Coach with the New England Revolution. Hired on January 8, 2024, after one season as Head Coach of FC Tulsa in the USL Championship, Gavin, a former Revolution player, remains on staff under new Head Coach Marko Mitrović.

Gavin, 37, spent the 2023 season at the helm of FC Tulsa, leading the team to a 10-15-9 record. In his lone season with the club, Gavin was hired for his extensive knowledge of USL, MLS experience, and attack-minded style, with an ability to relate to both veterans and young players. Prior to his time with FC Tulsa, Gavin spent two seasons on staff with the Columbus Crew in MLS. Initially joining as a video analyst for the 2021 season, Gavin matriculated to a full-time assistant coach for the 2022 campaign where he served under his former college coach, Caleb Porter. In August of 2022, Gavin departed Columbus after being hired as Head Coach of FC Tulsa for the following year.

Gavin earned his first coaching opportunity in 2018 with Phoenix Rising FC after his retirement. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native joined Patrice Carteron’s staff at just 29 years old, helping the club to a 54-16-14 record in league play during his three-year tenure. In his first season coaching Phoenix, Gavin helped guide the club to a Western Conference Championship and its first berth in the USL Cup Final. In 2019, Gavin and Phoenix finished with the best regular season record in the USL Championship. In his final season with Phoenix in 2020, Gavin helped the club reach the USL Cup Final once again, though the championship match was cancelled due to health and safety protocols.

As a player, Gavin spent eight seasons as a midfielder in MLS and the USL. He was originally selected by Chivas USA as the 10th-overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, signing a Generation adidas contract. In parts of three seasons with Chivas, Gavin appeared in 43 matches, scoring three goals. Midway through the 2012 season, he was acquired by the New England Revolution and went on to make two appearances for the club. After brief spells with Seattle Sounders FC and NASL side Atlanta Silverbacks, Gavin made 86 appearances and five goals over three years in the USL Championship with Portland Timbers 2 and Arizona United/Phoenix Rising FC.

The former two-time First Team All-Mid-American Conference honoree played three seasons of collegiate soccer at the University of Akron. Gavin scored seven goals over 68 games for the Zips, helping the team earn a berth in the 2009 College Cup Final. He capped off his college career by earning a Generation adidas contract ahead of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. While in college, Gavin also played three years for the IMG Academy’s Bradenton Academics in the Premier Development League (now USL League Two). On the international stage, Gavin featured five times for the United States Under-18 team, and once for the Under-20 side.
